About Dennis
Throughout his academic career, math and music have been Dennis' strengths. While attaining a Mechanical Engineering degree at Virginia Tech, he enrolled in Calculus and Thermodynamics along with trumpet lessons and the community symphony. After a year of working in the Chemical Engineering field, he went back to school to become an Audio Engineer, a field which combines math and music. Working part-time for Sylvan Learning Center as a math tutor, Dennis found that he connected very well with students. This connection helped them to be receptive to the math concepts he was teaching them. His passion for math developed into a passion for helping students with math. Dennis wanted to continue making a positive impact on students. When presented with the opportunity, he accepted a promotion to Center Director where he was responsible for a caseload of 70 individual programs and a staff of 12 instructors. It was very satisfying for Dennis to help students of varying backgrounds and situations with not only their academics, but with their self confidence as well. He has moved to the New York area to continue his passions, math tutoring and music. Dennis hopes to make an impact on students who might be struggling, or want to enrich their math knowledge. |
